Visibility/wiper ODI 11708036 12/31/2025

You can't see clearly out the windshield while driving during the day or night due to dashboard reflection on the windshield. The defect is highly publicised on the internet and on Equinox EV forums. I was told it is an engineering defect due to the windshield's angle and cannot be fixed. I have asked Chevrolet to do a buyback because, even with the TSB fix for the dash cover,…

Electrical System ODI 11707602 12/29/2025

The vehicle became completely disabled due to a sudden battery drain at approximately 5482 miles. I purchased the car with 2553 on it in May. The vehicle would not start a few times and had to be towed to the dealership on Friday Dec. 26, 2025. The dealer confirmed that the OnStar/telematics module is malfunctioning and continuously draining the battery. The defective module i…

Electrical System ODI 11632936 12/29/2024

Both the speedometer/digital information center and radio went black while driving. I had no access to either of these for about 5-7 seconds. I had cruise control set at the time, and it did not affect my speed. I heard a “click” after everything went black and after restarting, it was normal. My red indicator above the steering wheel flashed a couple times and the radio came …

Exterior Lighting ODI 11707031 12/25/2025

While driving in snowy conditions the headlights become packed with snow and slush. Lights become dim and I’ve had to pull over in unsafe conditions to clear them.

Electrical System ODI 11706886 12/23/2025

I bought this vehicle brand new on January 18th 2025 and it has been into the dealership 3 times now for a backup camera malfunction. My rear traffic alert or any of my other safety features when backing up are not working. On several occasions the entire instrument display including my speedometer and everything has completely blacked out.

Questions

FAQ

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?
Owners have filed 236 safety complaints with NHTSA for the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox, most often about electrical system. Compare the complaint counts across model years above — a year with far more complaints than the model's average is the strongest 'avoid' signal in public data.
Which Chevrolet Equinox years should I avoid?
The rule of thumb used by analysts: a model year whose complaint count is well above the model's own average (we flag 2× or more) usually had a real manufacturing or design problem — not just noisy reporting. Use the year-by-year strip on this page.
Where do these complaints come from?
Directly from NHTSA, the US government road-safety agency. Any owner can file a Vehicle Owner Questionnaire; NHTSA publishes them as public domain data. We cache each lookup for up to 7 days.
Do complaints mean a recall is coming?
Sometimes. NHTSA opens defect investigations when complaint patterns emerge, and investigations can end in recalls. Check the recalls page for this vehicle to see what has already been recalled.
