Most Dangerous Intersections in New York City

Quick answer: from 20 May 2026 – 11 Jun 2026, the location with the most reported crashes in New York City was Near Bruckner Blvd with 6, followed by Near Cross Island Parkway (6). These are crash counts from NYC Open Data — Motor Vehicle Collisions (NYPD), not risk rates: busier junctions see more crashes partly because more cars use them.

This city's tally covers 23 days so far. Its open-data feed is large, so we add each day as it is published until a full year is in; the order below can still change.

Questions

Dangerous intersections — FAQ

What is the most dangerous intersection in New York City?
In the official records we hold (20 May 2026 – 11 Jun 2026), the location with the most reported crashes was Near Bruckner Blvd, with 6. That is the highest count, not proof it is the riskiest: busy junctions carry more traffic, and the data has no traffic volumes to compare crashes per vehicle.
How is this list made?
Every crash in the NYC Open Data — Motor Vehicle Collisions (NYPD) has a reported point. We count crashes in a grid of about 45 m squares, then merge each busy square with its neighbours (about 135 m across) so one junction recorded at slightly different points stays one spot. Points that collect many unrelated street names are default locations, not junctions, and are left out.
Why does a junction near me not appear?
Only 20 spots are listed, and only crashes that the police reported and the city published with a location are counted. Recent weeks can still be missing while reports are processed.
How current is it?
The tally covers 23 days, 20 May 2026 – 11 Jun 2026, and grows each day up to a full year. The source itself is refreshed once a day on this site.
