Published 3 min read By Live Accident Tracker Editorial

A 45-year-old lawyer and his 12-year-old daughter were killed and four other people were seriously injured when their car rammed into a parked water tanker on National Highway 922 near Nuaon village in Buxar district, Bihar, early on Saturday 7 November 2026.

The six occupants of the car, including the driver, were returning to Lucknow after visiting the Baba Baidyanath temple in Deoghar, Jharkhand, when the crash happened.

What happened

The car was travelling on NH-922 in the early hours of Saturday when, according to police, the driver lost control near Nuaon village and the car crashed into a water tanker parked by the roadside.

The impact killed two of the occupants on the spot and left the other four seriously injured. The tanker was parked at the roadside at the time, and the car ran into it at speed.

Who died

Two people were killed:

  • Akash Dixit, 45, a resident of Lucknow and an advocate at the Allahabad High Court
  • Pihu Kumari, 12, his daughter

The four other occupants — Rajiv Dixit, Jyoti Dixit, Priyanka Dixit and the driver — were seriously injured.

Emergency response

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital and later referred to a higher medical centre in Varanasi. One woman was referred to the trauma centre in Varanasi, and two of the injured were being shifted to Lucknow for further treatment.

Personnel from Krishnabrahma police station reached the scene. Station house officer Chandan Kumar said proceedings had been initiated and the bodies of the two dead were sent for post-mortem examination.

Context

NH-922 runs between Patna and Buxar, and is a busy route for families travelling between Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. The family had been on a pilgrimage visit to the Baba Baidyanath temple in Deoghar and were on their way home to Lucknow when the crash happened.

Parked heavy vehicles at the roadside are a well-known hazard on Indian national highways, especially in the early hours when visibility is poor and drivers are tired after long journeys. The police will need to establish why the car left its lane and whether the tanker was properly parked and marked.

What happens next

Police at Krishnabrahma station have started proceedings, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The condition of the four injured people will be watched closely, and any further police findings about the cause of the crash will be reported as they are confirmed.
