On the morning of Monday 12 October 2026, a speeding water tanker rammed into a two-wheeler near Kopri Naka in Virar, Maharashtra, at around 8:45 am. The crash killed Kavita Pal (28) and her four-year-old son Aariv on the spot.

The Pal family — Dharmendra Pal (30), a resident of Jeevan Nagar in Nalasopara (E), his wife Kavita, and their sons Aariv (4) and Aayansh (7) — were travelling on a single two-wheeler to the Jivdani Devi temple to seek blessings on the occasion of Navratri. Aariv was in his mother's arms when the tanker ran over them. Both were killed on the spot, Lalu Ture, senior inspector of Virar police station, confirmed.
