A serious crash took place in Oberschützen, in the Oberwart district of Burgenland, Austria, in the early afternoon on Thursday 16 October 2026. For a reason that is still unclear, a car left the road, overturned and came to rest in a small patch of woodland.

Who was hurt?

One person was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. Two other people were rescued from the wreck seriously injured. They were given first aid and taken to hospitals by ambulance and by emergency helicopter.
